DavidScottLewis This feature made my "Best of ... Magazine" Twine, a rare feat.  Although some will denounce me for promoting philosophical discourse in what they perceive as a "tech" site, so be it.

Here is the intro paragraph:

"'Opposition to religion occupies the high ground, intellectually and morally,' wrote Martin Amis recently. Over the past few years, leading writers and thinkers have published bestselling tracts against God. John Gray on why the 'secular fundamentalists' have got it all wrong."

Indeed, the atheist jihadists do have it all wrong.

Next time someone tells me that they're an atheist, I'll reply: "So (followed by a two second pause of silent, while concurrently creating a quizzical, disdainful expression), do you support genocide?"

I love it. Take that, Dawkins/Hitchens/Harris!!

I read the piece in the Guardian on Saturday and was disappointed. As long as the atheists are trying to get one over on the theists (and vice versa) nobody is making any progress. If "a bad supporter does not invalidate a good cause", then we can get back to exploring the nature and structure of reality and quit arguing about which group of arrogant humans, obsessed with their own righteousnes, have screwed up the most. Keeping scores is not only meaningless (because we never agreed the methodology way back then) but pointless because it can only drive us apart - and surely in this crazy world we don't need any more of that. Happy Easter.

...they help me to help my clients market and sell chips, systems, and software. 'kay?

By the way, here's an easy method I developed for determining that there is no god:

If,
Then,
Else.

Try it and you'll see.

Bravo for (re)placing a moment of (organic) doubtful knowing into the silicon world. Ultimately, recognizing the limits of what we can (dis)prove will have to come from a better definition of reality than our crude reliance on faith(!) that the structure of nature will remain unchanged, just because it 'always has been'--more risk assessment than proof. If we are to do this in time to save this planet from mass extinction, using all of the tools and abilities that we are blessed with, then we might want to hear each other's intelligent designs ( ! ) on the future now. rae 'man

While difficult to understand in the logical sense, a person's religion or lack thereof says a lot about their personality and possible buying habits.

Therefore I believe that discussions that cause one to think and in so doing create more understanding are perfectly viable in a forum such as this.

What David Scott Lewis posted on this BUSINESS site has no relevance to business. It did not inform or educate on the topic of buying habits.
